FAQ

Questions, answered.

Is FreeBTC free?

Yes. There are no deposits, no purchases and no subscriptions. Every block, every daily challenge and every forecast is free.

How does FreeBTC work, in one line?

You play with free chips and win sats in the weekly rankings. Free chips every hour, play them in Bitcoin games, rank in the top 10 and get real sats in your wallet every Monday.

What are chips?

Chips are what you play with. They are free and have no money value. You play them in the Bitcoin games, and your results count for the weekly rankings.

How do I get chips?

Sign in and you get 10,000 chips. Then you can claim 1,000 more every hour. Playing well in the free skill games (daily puzzles, block predictions, the Heartbeat and the Block of the Day) also gives you chips.

Can I lose my chips?

Yes. When you play them you can win more or lose them. Go all-in if you like. If you run out, more chips come next hour. Losing chips never costs you money.

Can I buy or sell chips?

No. Chips are never sold and never bought, and they never turn into sats. Sats can’t buy chips either. Paying for something on FreeBTC, like the season pass or sponsoring a block, never gives you chips or a better place in the rankings.

How do the weekly rankings work?

Every week there are four rankings: most chips won, most chips played, most correct block calls and biggest single win. The top 10 of each ranking win real sats. You need at least 20 plays in the week to enter.

When are the rankings paid?

Every Monday at 00:00 UTC. The sats go straight into your wallet, and a new week of rankings starts.

How are the ranking prizes split?

Prizes come from the weekly pot, which gets half of all prize money. Each Monday 80% of the pot is paid out and the rest rolls over to the next week. That money is split between the rankings: 35% most chips won, 25% most chips played, 25% most correct block calls, 15% biggest win. In each ranking, 1st place gets 30%, 2nd 20%, 3rd 12%, then 9%, 7%, 6%, 5%, 4%, 4% and 3%.

Why is FreeBTC legal?

Because it is a free promotional contest. You never pay to take part. Chips are free, have no money value and are never sold or exchanged for sats. Paying for anything never helps you rank. The prizes are paid by FreeBTC, from what partners pay us.

How does FreeBTC make money?

Only when you earn. Companies — our partners — pay FreeBTC for surveys, apps and missions players complete. The player keeps their share in sats (their hashrate, 50% to 65%) and we keep a cut. If you don’t earn, neither do we. You can see every sat live in Open books.

Can I lose money?

No. You never deposit and never pay. You play with free chips, and the house never wins when you lose. Prizes are paid in sats from public pots funded by FreeBTC’s revenue.

What is my hashrate?

The share of every partner payment you keep. Base 50%, +1 per day of streak (up to +8), +2 in the season top 10%, +5 with the season pass, +2 your first month if a friend invited you. Maximum 65%. Your streak is your hashrate.

What does “maturing” mean?

Like a miner’s reward waiting for its confirmations, partner sats wait 30 days before they can be withdrawn. It protects everyone from fraud: partners can reverse payments in that window.

How does my pool work?

Invite friends with your link and earn 10% of what they earn with partners (12% with 5 active friends, 15% with 25). It is paid from FreeBTC’s share — your friends lose nothing and get +2% hashrate for their first month.

How do I earn sats?

Mainly in the weekly rankings: play your free chips and finish in the top 10 of any ranking. Also by scoring well: correct answers on each block, the daily top 10, the season top 10 and the Jackpot. With a 3-day streak you also earn 1 sat per correct answer while the per-block pool lasts. And with partners: surveys, apps and missions that pay you in sats.

Why do you not promise a fixed amount?

Because the only honest way to give bitcoin away is to give away part of what you earn. A fixed share of revenue goes into public pools and payouts can never exceed them.

Can I withdraw?

Yes, from 50,000 sats in your balance, to your own Bitcoin address. Partner sats join your balance once they finish maturing. Withdrawals are reviewed and paid manually.

I had an account on the old FreeBTC. Is my balance safe?

Yes. Accounts and balances carry over. Sign in with the same Google account.

Where does the block data come from?

From the public Bitcoin blockchain, via mempool.space. You can verify every result on any block explorer.

Are the AI rivals real?

When an API key is configured, each rival is the real model named on the page, answering a fixed public prompt. Without a key, the rival is a simple statistical strategy and is clearly labelled as simulated.

What is the Real Block?

A real mining device hashing solo. If it ever finds a block, 90% of the reward is shared among players by tickets. The chances are slim and we always show them.

Who are the Rivals (◆)?

House characters with fixed strategies that play every block and the daily challenge so you always have someone to beat. They never receive prizes.

Can I play from my phone?

Yes. FreeBTC is designed mobile-first and can be installed as an app from your browser.
