1. Organiser
The weekly rankings (the “contest”) are organised by the company that operates FreeBTC:
- Company: Investments & Solutions B.V.
- Gaming licence: application in progress
- Website: freebtc.app
The contest runs on the website freebtc.app (“FreeBTC”).
2. Nature of the contest and free entry
The contest is a completely free promotion. No payment or purchase is needed to take part.
- You play with chips, which are free, have no monetary value and cannot be bought, sold, transferred or exchanged for money or sats.
- Buying any FreeBTC product (such as the season pass or sponsoring a block) is not needed to take part and gives no chips, positions or advantage of any kind.
- Prizes are paid by the organiser out of part of its own revenue.
3. Period
The contest runs in consecutive weekly editions. Each edition starts on Monday at 00:00:00 UTC and ends on Sunday at 23:59:59 UTC. Editions follow one another continuously until the organiser ends the contest, which it will announce on FreeBTC with reasonable notice and without affecting the edition in progress.
4. Territory
The contest is open to participants worldwide, except in territories whose law prohibits or restricts this type of promotion or taking part in it. Each participant is responsible for checking that they may take part under the law of their country. The organiser may exclude territories where needed to comply with the law.
5. Who can take part
Individuals may take part if they:
- are 18 or over (or the age of majority in their country, if higher);
- have a FreeBTC account and comply with the Terms of use; and
- take part with a single account.
Excluded:
- house characters (“Rivals”, marked ◆), who play so there is always someone to compete with and never receive prizes;
- accounts that, when the week closes, are under review for possible fraud or blocked;
- people with more than one account (all of their accounts);
- people involved in running the service.
6. How it works
Each week four rankings are drawn up from that week’s chip plays that are settled (won or lost) when the week closes:
| Ranking | What counts | Share of prizes |
|---|---|---|
| Most chips won | Net chips won in the week: winnings minus chips played, across all plays. | 35% |
| Most chips played | Chips played on plays with real risk: those paying ×1.95 or more (a 51% or lower chance of winning). | 25% |
| Most correct calls | Number of blocks called right in the games resolved by real Bitcoin blocks (“Next Block” and “Hash Roulette”): at most one per game and block, on plays of at least 100 chips paying ×1.9 or more. | 25% |
| Biggest win | The largest net win on a single play (winnings minus chips played). | 15% |
- To enter a week’s rankings you need at least 20 settled plays with real risk (paying ×1.95 or more) that week and a positive value in the ranking concerned.
- To receive a prize, the account must be at least 72 hours old when the week closes.
- Players are ordered from highest to lowest value. In a tie, whoever reached that value first ranks higher; for this purpose, the player whose last settled play of the week came earlier is deemed to have reached it first.
- The same person may win a prize in several rankings.
- Instant games are verifiable with seeds (see Provably fair). Real-data games are resolved with public Bitcoin network data (mempool.space) and Coinbase’s 1-minute BTC-USD candles.
- Chips are free: 10,000 the first time, 1,000 every hour (after a check that you are a person) and more for good results in the free skill games, up to 5,000 a day that way.
The provisional standings are shown live on the Rankings page.
7. Prizes
Prizes are satoshis (sats), the smallest unit of bitcoin (1 sat = 0.00000001 BTC), calculated as follows:
- Weekly pot. Funded exclusively by a share of the organiser’s revenue from partners and sponsors. Its balance is public on Open books.
- The week’s prize money. At closing, 80% of the pot’s confirmed balance at that moment is paid out. Partner revenue that can still be reversed (maturing or under review) doesn’t count until it is confirmed. The remaining 20% stays in the pot for the following weeks.
- Split between rankings: 35% most chips won, 25% most chips played, 25% most correct calls and 15% biggest win.
- Split within each ranking among the top 10: 30%, 20%, 12%, 9%, 7%, 6%, 5%, 4%, 4% and 3%, from 1st to 10th place.
- If fewer than 10 participants qualify for a prize in a ranking, the percentages of the places filled are scaled up proportionally so that the whole prize for that ranking is shared among them.
- If nobody qualifies in a ranking, its prize stays in the pot.
- Amounts are rounded down to the whole sat; anything left over from rounding stays in the pot.
- The amount of the prizes depends on the pot balance and is not guaranteed; if the pot is empty, there are no prizes that week. Estimates shown during the week are indicative.
- Prizes cannot be exchanged for another prize or transferred to third parties.
8. Payment of prizes
After each week closes, prizes are credited automatically to each winner’s FreeBTC balance, normally within minutes of Monday 00:00 UTC. From the balance they can be withdrawn to a Bitcoin or Lightning address under the Terms of use (minimum withdrawal 50,000 sats).
If an account is under review or blocked when the week closes, it does not share in the prizes and its place is taken by the next eligible participant.
9. Fraud and exclusions
The organiser may exclude from the contest, at any time, anyone who breaches these rules or the Terms of use, in particular by using several accounts, bots or automation, VPNs or proxies to get around controls, or by exploiting bugs in the service. In those cases it may cancel prizes obtained improperly and reclaim or deduct prizes already credited. A person reviews every case.
10. Publication of winners
Each week’s rankings and winners are published on FreeBTC with the player’s nickname, position, ranking value and prize. Real names and contact details are never published.
11. Tax
Prizes are subject to whatever taxes apply to the winner under the rules of their country of residence. Each winner is responsible for declaring them and, where applicable, paying those taxes.
The organiser meets its own tax obligations under the rules that apply to it. If those rules required it to collect details from a winner or to withhold tax, it may ask the winner for the necessary details; if they are not provided, payment of the prize may be suspended until they are.
12. Data protection
The organiser processes participants’ data as controller to run the contest, calculate and pay prizes, publish winners by nickname, prevent fraud and meet its legal and tax obligations. The legal bases are the performance of these rules, the legitimate interest in preventing fraud and compliance with legal obligations. Full information, including your rights and how to exercise them, is in the Privacy policy.
13. Acceptance of the rules
Taking part in the contest means accepting these rules. You take part simply by playing with chips during the week; no separate registration is needed.
14. Changes and cancellation
The organiser may change these rules for justified reasons. Changes will be published on this page and apply from the weekly edition following their publication, without affecting rights already acquired. In case of widespread fraud, a serious technical failure or force majeure preventing an edition from running normally, the organiser may void or suspend it; in that case the pot balance is kept for later editions.
15. Governing law and complaints
These rules are governed by the laws of Curaçao, and disputes will be resolved as provided in the Terms of use, including the protection of the mandatory consumer rules of your country of residence where the law requires it.
If you disagree with a week’s result, write to freebtc.app@gmail.com as soon as possible, preferably within 30 days of the closing, so we can review it with all the data.
