How to withdraw over Lightning
Save a Lightning address ([email protected]) in your profile, wait 24 hours, then open Wallet, choose Lightning, enter at least 1,000 sats and press “Request withdrawal”. A person reviews every withdrawal and pays it by hand to that address.
Step by step
- Tap your sats balance at the top of the page to open Wallet.
- Under “How do you want to be paid?”, choose Lightning. If you have no address yet, follow the “Go to profile” link.
- In Settings, paste your address into “Lightning address (from 1,000 sats)” and press Save.
- After 24 hours, go back to Wallet, type the amount in “Amount (sats)” and press “Request withdrawal”.
- The request appears under Withdrawals as Pending, and as Paid once it has been sent.
What a Lightning address is
A Lightning address looks like an email: [email protected]. Wallets such as Wallet of Satoshi, Blink or Phoenix give you one for free. It is the fastest and cheapest way to take sats out of FreeBTC, and the only method with a 1,000-sat minimum.
Before you request
- Only your available balance can be withdrawn. Partner sats that are still maturing are not in it yet.
- You can have one pending withdrawal at a time.
- You can cancel a request during its first 10 minutes from the Withdrawals list.

Why is the “Request withdrawal” button greyed out?
The amount is below 1,000 sats or above your available balance. If you see a message about your address instead, save a Lightning address in your profile first.
How long does a Lightning withdrawal take?
Every withdrawal is checked by a person first. Once it is approved and sent, a Lightning payment reaches your wallet almost instantly.
Can I paste a Lightning invoice instead?
No. The profile field only accepts a Lightning address in the [email protected] format, so we can pay any amount you request.
