How to play

  • Enter minutes and seconds from the previous block to the one being mined now.
  • Off by 30 s or less = 5, 1 min = 4, 2 min = 3, 4 min = 2, 8 min = 1.
  • 4–5 = 2 season points; 2–3 = 1 point.
  • Guesses made in the last 30 seconds before the block is recorded do not score.

About this game

Bitcoin targets one block every ten minutes, but mining is random: some blocks arrive seconds apart, others take more than an hour. It is a Poisson process, which makes it a great guessing game.

Your guess is measured with the block header timestamps, the same numbers any block explorer shows.

Is there a best strategy?

The time already elapsed tells you nothing about the remaining wait — mining has no memory. The median gap is about 7 minutes, shorter than the 10-minute average.

Is it free?

Yes. You never stake sats: your guess costs nothing and good calls add season points.
