How to play

  • Enter a fee rate in sat/vB for the block being mined now.
  • The target is the block’s entry fee: the 10th-percentile fee rate of the transactions it actually included.
  • Below the target scores 0. At or above it, the closer you are, the more you score: within 5% = 5, within 15% = 4, within 30% = 3, within 50% = 2, up to double = 1. More than double the target scores 0.
  • 4–5 = 2 season points; 2–3 = 1 point.
  • Guesses made in the last 30 seconds before the block is recorded do not score.

About this game

Every Bitcoin transaction bids for block space. Miners fill blocks with the highest-paying transactions first, so the cheapest fee that still gets in moves with the mempool every few minutes.

Fee Sniper turns that into a game: name the fee rate you would pay to get into the very next block. Too low and you miss it; too high and you overpaid.

Why the 10th percentile and not the minimum?

Some transactions get in with tiny fees because a child transaction pays for them, or because the miner added them. The 10th percentile is a fairer “entry price”.

Is it free?

Yes. You never stake sats: your guess costs nothing and good calls add season points.
